ENERGY & METABOLISM

Your GP may have suggested speaking with a nutrition professional to help improve your cholesterol, blood sugar or other blood markers. Or you may have come directly because your energy or weight has changed, or you want to take more care of your health.

I help you work out what this means for your everyday food. Together, we make a plan that fits your life, with the aim of improving relevant health markers, supporting your energy and helping you feel better day to day.

How I work with you

Being told to change your diet can leave you wondering what that actually means for breakfast, lunch and dinner. This is where I can help.

We look at any blood results and advice from your GP, alongside your health history, medication, meals, sleep, activity and digestion. I also want to know how you feel.

Are you tired?

Do you have the energy to be active?

What happens to your food when work gets busy?

For one person, that might mean making time for lunch and having something ready for the evening. For someone else, it may be adjusting portions, getting enough protein or finding ways to include more fibre in the foods they already enjoy.

I’m a registered nutritional therapist, trained at the Institute for Optimum Nutrition. My functional nutrition approach means considering your health and symptoms together, while keeping the changes practical.

What we can work on

Energy dips, cravings and blood sugar
If you’re regularly running out of energy or reaching for something to keep you going, we look at how much and how regularly you eat, what your meals contain, and your sleep and daily routine.
If you’ve been told your blood sugar is raised, I help you turn nutrition advice into everyday meals, alongside your medical care.

Heart health and cholesterol

Perhaps a recent health check or your family history has prompted you to take more care of your heart health.

We look at food choices that support cardiovascular health, including the types of fats you eat, fibre, salt and alcohol, alongside your activity. I help you make these changes work in your meals and lifestyle.

Weight, muscle and body composition
You may want to lose some body fat, build muscle or feel stronger. We consider portions, protein, meal patterns and food around your activity, so the plan supports your goals and the energy you need.

Staying well as you get older

For some clients, the goal is to keep walking, travelling, training and doing the things they enjoy. With lunches out, friends visiting and entertaining at home, eating well needs to fit around a busy social life.

We look at practical choices for everyday meals and social occasions, supporting your energy, muscle and strength while looking after your heart and metabolic health. This is where longevity fits into my work: looking after your health now so you can keep enjoying life in the years ahead.

Your plan, testing and progress

We start with your goals, how you feel and any recent blood results or advice from your GP. These may include cholesterol, blood sugar markers such as HbA1c, or nutrient levels already checked. We also look at your activity, sleep, medication and everyday routine.

Together, we agree on practical food changes, with room for meals out, entertaining and your favourite foods. Eating well doesn’t mean cutting everything out. We look at portions, balance and what we can add to your meals, such as more vegetables, fibre or protein, to support your health and help you feel satisfied.

Where there’s a reason to look further, we may consider targeted nutrient testing or an Omega-3 Index to assess your omega-3 status. Where appropriate, we also review repeat blood tests arranged with your GP, so we can follow changes in your health markers alongside how you feel and adjust your plan.

What my clients say

“She is easy to talk with, never rushed and careful not to overwhelm one with too many changes all at once. I believe she offered just the right testing, counseling and encouragement to facilitate some healthy changes that are evident in how good I feel and confirmed in subsequent bloodwork.”

“I got a surprise diagnosis of pre-diabetes last year, and I was completely overwhelmed with all the info online and from doctors. Karelle helped me make the small changes I needed, with gradual steps and taking into account my gut health and training.”
