NUTRITION FOR PERFORMANCE
I work with runners, cyclists, triathletes and Hyrox athletes who want to eat well, feel better in their training and work towards their goals.

Nutrition for your health and your sport

Together, we look at your fuelling and recovery, and at anything else that may be getting in the way—whether that’s low energy, digestive problems or the demands of a busy life.
Does any of this sound familiar?
You’re training regularly, but you’re tired more often than you’d like. Your stomach is unpredictable on longer sessions. Or you’re trying to change your body composition and aren’t sure how much you should be eating.

Perhaps you simply want to know what to eat before training, how to fuel a long ride or run, and what will help you recover afterwards.
These are all things we can work on together.

How DO I work
I’m a registered nutritional therapist trained at the Institute for Optimum Nutrition, with a functional nutrition approach. I also have additional training in integrative sports nutrition through the Centre for Integrative Sports Nutrition (CISN).
My interest has always been in understanding the person I’m working with: their health, their sport and what is happening in their life.
For most of us, training fits around a job, family and plenty of other commitments. We might have a race to prepare for, but we also need enough energy to get through the day.

One person may not be eating enough for the amount they train. Another may have gut symptoms that make fuelling difficult. Someone else may be dealing with eczema, poor sleep or changes in their cycle. All of this matters when we put a plan together.

We’ll work on your performance, fuelling and recovery, while also looking at what may be holding you back.

Practise your training and race nutrition
We work out what to eat and drink before, during and after your sessions. There’s time to try different options, see what your stomach tolerates and build a plan you feel comfortable using.
03

We start with you
We talk about your health, symptoms, training and what you would like to achieve. I also want to understand what a normal week looks like for you, including work, family and the time you have for food and recovery.
01
How we put your plan together
You don’t have to change everything at once. We agree on where to start, try things out and adjust as we go.

Get your everyday food in place
We look at your meals, snacks and whether you’re eating enough for what you’re asking your body to do. This might mean making breakfast more substantial, organising food around evening training or adjusting portions to support your goals.
02

Review and adjust together
At our follow-ups, we talk about your energy, digestion, recovery and what has been manageable. As your training or circumstances change, we adjust the plan with you.

FUNCTIONAL TESTING FOR ATHLETES & PERFORMANCE
Some of the tests I use with my athletes—and Why
Metabolomix+ with fatty acids — a broader view of your nutritional health
A favourite in my work with athletes, whether you’re building foundations in the off-season or preparing for your next event.

It brings together markers linked to energy production, nutrient needs, oxidative stress and gut microbial activity, alongside a fatty acid profile including omega-3 and omega-6. By measuring metabolites—the substances produced as your body processes nutrients—it offers clues about nutrient use and possible additional needs, complementing routine blood tests.

Together with your food intake, symptoms and training, these insights help us personalise your nutrition to support your health, fuelling and recovery.

Easy to collect at home: a non-invasive urine sample, plus a small finger-prick blood sample for the fatty acid profile. No clinic visit needed, making it practical wherever we work together.

What clients (ATHLETES) say
“I cannot recommend Karelle highly enough! The nutrition and fueling plan she created for me was the only reason I made it across the finish line at Ironman Texas. She is an expert in her field, a joy to work with and a wealth of knowledge in the world of nutrition and endurance events!”

“Karelle is very knowledgeable and has a pragmatic approach to nutrition and helped me understand what I can do to make improvements where needed in a way which I could easily understand.”
Deke Pedrick

“To put it simply, Karelle has been transformational in reaching my sports objectives in both triathlon and trail running over the past 8+ years across Asia and Europe! I know how to train well, but training and racing well with the right nutrition has been a game changer.
[…] Karelle however made it so simple that it’s changed my entire race and training nutrition, allowing me to enjoy long races all the way - rather than fade like I used to!”

Would you like to talk about your training and Nutrition ?

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
No. You might have an event in mind, or you might simply enjoy your sport and want to feel better doing it.
Yes. We’ll look at what happens day to day as well as during exercise, and how this affects what you can comfortably eat and drink.
We’ll find a level of structure that helps you. There needs to be room for family meals, eating out and days that don’t go to plan.
That’s absolutely fine. Your nutrition can fit around the training you’re doing, and with your agreement we can speak with your coach where helpful.
No. We start with your consultation. If I think a test could add useful information, we’ll discuss it together.
